What to Expect

A Pawsitive Experience

At Veterinary Emergency Services of Lincoln (VES), we stand ready to provide essential emergency care for your pets outside of regular office hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Our team of emergency-trained veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians is committed to assisting pet owners and their furry companions in any emergency situation. No prior appointments are necessary for your pet to receive a prompt examination at VES.

However, please bear in mind that we operate on a triage basis, prioritizing the most critical cases while also attending to patients on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s important to note that our veterinarians cannot provide diagnoses or treatment recommendations over the phone or virtually through pictures sent to our team.

If you have any questions about how we can care for your pet, please don’t hesitate to call us at 402-489-6800.

When You Arrive

Upon arrival at VES, a thorough emergency physical examination will be conducted. Following the examination, the attending veterinarian will prepare a comprehensive Treatment Plan with recommended diagnostics and treatments tailored to your pet’s condition.

This Treatment Plan is tentative and may be subject to revisions based on diagnostic findings. Pet owners will need to authorize treatment for their pets following the examination. In cases of critical conditions, our dedicated staff will prioritize stabilizing the animal before discussing the situation in detail with the owner.

VES primarily focuses on the treatment of dogs and cats. Treatment of other animal species depends on the attending veterinarian each night. While we may offer treatment for pocket pets, reptiles, and birds, availability is not guaranteed.
